Sega SG-1000 Console Launches
15th July 1983 Sega's First Console Touches Down
Releasing on the same day as the Nintendo Famicom, the console was made from off the shelf parts, so the library does not have a feel unlike using a Colecovision. The system is interesting as it has home versions of Sega's arcade classics such as Flicky and versions of third party games such as H.E.R.O. and Hypersports. Although not a massive success, the machine gave Sega the confidence to persevere, having eventual huge success with the Master System and Mega Drive http://www.computinghistory.org.uk/det/27836/Sega-SG-1000/
